"I went to the woods because I
wished to live deliberately, to front
only the essential facts of life, and
see if I could not learn what it had
to teach, and not when I came to
die, discover that I had not lived."

-Thoreau

What is Owl Creek Programs?
Owl Creek was started in 2003 to bring a unique approach to environmental
education into our community. Through real, hands-on experience in nature,
modern life sciences, and ancient native wisdom we guide people towards
developing a healthy connection to nature, self, and community. Our
workshops will provide a fun and memorable experience in the natural world
from a beginner level to experienced level. Our goal is to share the
wilderness arts in a fun way and give you the tools to continue learning on
your own so that we may hand down a healthy planet to the future
generations. What is taught and how it is taught is influenced by our elders,
teachers, and mentors including
Tom Brown Jr.,Paul Raphael, Jon Young,
Robert Moss, Mark Morey, and the late Grandfather Ingwe, and Gilbert

"We do not need to invent
sustainable human communities. We
can learn from societies that have
lived sustainably for centuries. We
can also model communities after
nature's ecosystems... Since the
outstanding characteristic of the
biosphere is its inherent ability to
sustain life, a sustainable human
community must be designed in such
a manner that its technologies and
social institutions honor, support,
and cooperate with nature's inherent
ability to sustain life."
