100 years...

"100 years from now it will
not matter
What my bank account was
The sort of house I lived in
The kind of car I drove
Nor what my clothes
looked like
But the world may be
different
Because I was important in
the life of a child."

Kamana Club: Wednesday July 16th. This is a group for individuals who are working on the Kamana
Naturalist Training Program. The Kamana program is a four level independent study program that covers the
naturalist background needed to engage in the wilderness arts, including tracking, bird language, survival and native
living skills, traditional herbalism, and naturalist mentoring. It is the ultimate blueprint for a students' time spent in the field
and in conducting nature-related research. Students become confident naturalists, melding modern field ecology with the
skills of a native scout.

Kamana Club: Tuesday July 22nd at 8-9pm at Kevin's House. Call or email for directions.

Community Teachings: Friday July 25th, 6:30-8pm.
You are invited to join us this Friday July 25th for our first monthly community gathering where people can come
together to learn, practice, and experience nature-based community teachings. At first we wanted to have this
open only to those who attended the Art of Mentoring weekend but we have decided to make this open to
everyone. These gatherings will be planned and have a specific focus.

This Friday's outline will look like:
-A Thanksgiving Address: an opening to the evening with the "words before all else"
-Short discussion addressing questions and sharing insight from "the Art of Mentoring" workshop from last
month
-Teachings Topic: The Core Routines of Native Awareness -what are they, where do they come from, why have
they been passed on, and what are some approaches to practicing them

This evening will take place at the Cedar Yurt from 6:30-8pm. We plan on starting up at 6:30 so please show up
a few minutes before that. The Cedar Yurt is located at 2805 N. Headley Road which is on the way to Griffy Lake
from the 45/46 bypass on the North side of Bloomington. Look for the hidden gravel drive on the left as you are
going around a sharp right turn. There is no charge for this program. *This is currently for adults only. I think that
in the near future we will have a separate kids program or area with guided supervision so that families may
attend.
