Descriptions of Upcoming Workshops
Tracking Workshop
Sunday February 15th, 12-3:30pm. For adults and kids accompanied by an adult.
Hear stories of the amazing abilities of the "master trackers" of native cultures as we
explore and identify many signs and tracks left by the animals. We are sure to discover
the activities of woodpeckers, owls, squirrels, coyote, fox, deer, chipmunk, mouse,
raccoon, and many others. In this workshop participants will learn to identify and
interpret many different tracks and signs in our local forests. Animal "sign" includes
digs, beds, dens, feeding remains, scat, bones, hair, feathers, scratches, scrapes, trails,
runs, and more. You will also learn how each animal prefers to move and how to find
their signs in your own backyard or forest. Put on the mind of the detective and come
along with us!
We will first meet in the heated Cedar Yurt room before heading out into the nearby
meadow and forest.
Dress warm and bring a notebook, tape measurer (if you have one), water/food, and
anything else you might need. Be ready to walk around outdoors off-trail and on varied
terrain. Arrival time is between 11:45am-12:00pm.
Cost: $10 per person (due when you arrive on the 15th)
Location: we'll meet at 2805 N. Headley Road near Griffy Lake in Bloomington
Instructors: Kevin Glenn and Monique Philpot see instructor info page
